And the Fujinon lenses were, and are, really really good. The sensors were getting a lot better by this point even the X-Pro1 can still produce images that hold up well. Part of what Fujifilm did with the XF line was to blur the distinct line between kit lenses and "pro" lenses. Those lower line lenses were suitable for most people's needs at most of the image sizes they actually used. I think this is why the bigger camera companies could get away with the so-called "kit lens". The sensors were a limiting or determining factor in how a picture looked, more than the lens. In the pictures produced you could see the sensors improving over time. Is this making sense the way I'm saying it? I used some of the very early digital slrs, trading them up as they improved, but keeping the lenses. But we seem to be getting closer to the point at which the sensors have caught up to the capabilities of the lenses, where the sensors are easily good enough to "get out of the way" of the look imparted by the glass. I learned long ago that lenses outlive bodies, especially in the digital realm. This seems to represent a kind of threshold reached. What I conclude from this is that the sensor is not the determining factor in how the image looks, the lenses are, which means the sensor has advanced to an astonishing level. The Leica lens shots look like Leitz glass, the Hasselblad lens shots look like Zeiss glass, in short, they all look superb, and characteristic. What I can say with confidence is that the shots look like those lenses. I've tried just about every lens I own that can be adapted to the GFX-50R with those adapters I've mentioned: tried but not extensively shot with.

The TLDR version: we're at the start of an amazing period the GF system feels like a culmination, but it's just the - I've been pondering how to reply usefully to your question. Sorry in advance for the very long post, but this thread has really helped me coalesce some thinking that's been quietly forming in my response to the GF system for some time. If and when Fuji releases a native tilt/ shift lens it will immediately go to the top of my wish list! I'd better start saving up now. It works very well but is something of a monstrous assembly. I've found that with a tripod added to the setup, the compromises derived from the use of an adapted lens fade in importance.įor shift and tilt functionality I use the Fujifilm 4x5 inch adapter back and strap the rig onto the back of my Toyo VX125. The Leica R mount adapter gains me access to a pair of long telephoto lenses already in my collection, a 250mm and a 400mm. In use, however, I find they're a salad bar of compromises that, if you've selected intentionally, may be ones you can live with.įor my own purposes, the conclusion I've arrived at is that such adapters are most useful either for focal lengths outside of those represented in one's collection of native glass or to gain access to special functions, such as tilt or shift.Īs wonderful as the Zeiss lenses for Hasselblad are, for example, the Fujinon GF lenses I've manged to gather so far, the 63mm prime, the 32-64 zoom, and the 100-200 zoom, are a pure joy to use with the GFX, and produce superb results. Thus far, I've purchased three adapters, all by Kippon, converting from the Hasselblad V mount, the Mamiya RB mount, and the Leica R mount.Īll fit well and seem well made. Vario-Sonnar T* 45-90mm F/4.I've gone back and forth on the question of adapting lenses to the GFX. “ ■ TotalArigatougozaimasu!Thank you for your visiting our page!Mint Pre-owned,almost Like newPlease see our other items.■ SerialBody:N/ALens:15268281■ AppearanceAppearance is beautiful, tiny scuffs from normal use.It shows signs of use.*Please check photos.■ OpticsBeautiful condition.(Lens)There is no fog. There is no fungus. There is no scratches. There is no separation.(Finder)There is no fog. There is no fungus. There is no scratches. There is no separation.■ FunctionalIt works properly.exposure meter : OKAll shutter speeds : OKShutter speed dial moves : OKThe mat screen and mirror are clean.■ Bundled ItemAll you can see on the picture will be included in a set of a package. Please refer to the pictures for more details. Please check the pictures and don't hesitate to ask any questions about the item !Thank you.
